Brian Blackwell giving us an update on Lanny Harris
Brian Blackwell was able to join us at the lunch (along with a friend from Australia) and gave us a detailed update on how Lanny Harris is coming along. One thing that he mentioned was that Lanny had his spleen removed some years ago and this might have made him more susceptible to infections like meningitis.

Chem Eng 70 Scholarship
At our lunch, a question was asked about how our Chem Eng 70 Scholarship Fund was doing. Now that Bob Taylor is back in the country he provided the following update:
Total cash received - $16,115.52 Outstanding pledge balance - $8,000 Total raised - $24,115.52. This is a great start to reaching our goal of $40,000 and it is only year ONE!
Also according to Bob, Prachi Surti, at the UofW has offered to organize a lunch followed by a tour for our Chem Eng group. There would also be an opportunity to interact with the recipient of our first Scholarship candidate.
This invitation raises a couple of questions which we need your feedback on before making any commitments.
1. Would you be in favour of moving our fall Oct 23 lunch from Aberfoyle to the UofW or should they be separate events?
2. Would the ladies be interested in attending this UofW event?
Please reply by the end of June so we can give Prachi time to make the arrangements.
Fifty Year Anniversary
The 50th anniversary of our graduation is fast approaching (can you believe it!!). The University has just announced that they will hold the reunion in the spring rather than the fall. Saturday, June 6, 2020 is the reunion date. As mentioned before, we will plan our own reunion activities around that weekend so please hold June 5 to 8, 2020 open on your calendar and Tom and I will start the planning process for that weekend. We’ve already received some suggestions for our reunion, including,
Plan a dinner and dance,
Return to the Concordia Club for dinner
Block a number of rooms at a hotel in Kitchener/Waterloo in order to get a complimentary meeting room for holding our own reunion activities (cash bar/munchies, etc.)
Any and all suggestions are welcome so bring them on!!
Finally, we want to again direct a BIG thank you to John Bouchard for digging up and sharing those pix from ‘the good old days’!!
We look forward to hearing from you.
