One lingering memory from 2B is of a classmate who arrived late to our organic chem lab, and realized that he did not have time to complete the experiment in the remaining class time. Determined to shorten the time required for steam distillation of our solvent-based solution, he fired up the Bunsen Burner and applied a hot flame directly to the beaker, not concerned about any leaking vapours. Some scars never heal.
